Dec. 25, 2012

Merry Christmas, everyone.I hope you're all ready.
I hope this post finds you all happy and healthy and enjoying this beautiful day. I was going to post the same pic I did last year of a Santa, my favorite Santa face, but instead I will post Gabe's pic.
This is his pic with Santa this year. He is 7 and really enjoying all the getting ready. He really loved his elf on the shelf this year. We also went for an over night trip to the Polar Express in Palestine, Texas. It really is a wonderful experience when a child truly believes. I'll post some of those pics later on.
For now here he is with Santa at our local mall.
Thanks for dropping by. Have a glorious day. God bless you all. Stephanie

Happy Saturday

Hi, everyone. So sorry I haven't been having much content on my blog lately. Lots of issues with shoulder and hands so I had to take care of holiday issues first. I still haven't finished my Christmas cards. I even bought some stickers instead of cutting out my embellies. Makes me feel terrible but the hands just aren't working well.
Before I started my cooking I did get a couple of things made. This is one of them.
My BFF loves glassware...candle sticks, teapots and teacups. So I used TBBM2 and made the teacup and saucer.
This was cut at 11.25 (I think) It would just fit on the mat. I loved this paper, K&Co, and I used a spiral rose to embellish.

Thanks for dropping by. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

Mine is really simple but I kind of like it.
I used:
Christmas, Noel - jingle bells cut at 1,24 and the ornament is cut at 2.65
I love the glitter papers on this one. The label is hand cut and stamped
Inside I used a couple of sizzix dies and a MS holly punch. Added a little red bling and it's done.

Not so favorite card

Hi, all. Sorry for being MIA this week. Hope you've had a good week. Mine, not so much. I've had hand and shoulder issues and then I was lucky enough to get some kind of virus for the last 4 days. Such fun. So I haven't been crafting much this week.
Anyway today is my first foray into carddom and I thought I would make something easy. I picked the new A Quilted Christmas. No problem, right?
First I picked the manger silhouette card. Got all the pieces cut with the printed layers...and guess what? You couldn't tell what the silhouette was. I picked the cut and I couldn't tell what it was. So I wasted a lot of time and paper on that one. So I decided to pick another card.
This time I picked the candles silhouette. At least you can tell what the cut is but I'm not very impressed with this feature.
I was making this card for a challenge but I'm not too pleased with it. I decided to post it even though I don't really like it.
I think I should be an equal opportunity blog poster...the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some days it just doesn't pay to craft. This ever happen to any of you?
Thanks for dropping by.  Be sure to come back tomorrow for a DT project. This one I like.
Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

It seems a crazy person has taken over this blog. I can't seem to NOT finish the inside of a card, even one I don't like.  (my sisters call it OCD. Wonder what they mean by that?) So I'm back with the inside done. I actually like the inside of this card.
Anyway, take a look. If you've lasted this long, you might as well see the finish.
Thanks for putting up with me. I may be a little crazy but I'm harmless...I promise.
Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

Gift bag and tag challenge

Hello on this wonderful Monday morning. Can you believe it's already December? I'm not ready for this.
But time seems to go on anyway, doesn't it? We have a new challenge at BBTB2 today. Our lovely and talented Suzanne has chosen for us to decorate a gift bag and/or tag for this week. I'm sure we can all use more gift bags, right?
I needed these items for a baby gift for a very sweet niece. She's having a second child, a boy, in the middle of this month. Of course she gets a card too.
Here's the recipe:
Bag - Baby Steps - baby boy cut at 4.18 with all layers
         Art Philosophy - banner/flag cut at 6.06
Tag - Art Philosophy - tag cut at 2.88
Baby Steps - bear rattle cut at 1.94
Cared - Baby Steps - baby boy cut at 3.47, scalloped rectangle-spellbinders,  "its a boy" and Little Miracle-
cuttlebug, label-spellbinders, stamp and ribbon my stash
I hope you will join our challenge. Just remember to follow our simple rules and use your cricut.

Thanks for stopping by. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

Christmas card

Hi. It's Thursday and the weekend is in sight. YEA!!! I just can't seem to rest. I only get about 3 hours a night. I'm still having pain with my hand and my shoulder that won't let me sleep. Thank goodness for this hobby. I can usually get in a "zone" and forget for a while. Oh well it will get better.
I bought the first red home model sizzix die cutter in the 90's and I have a ton of dies. But I never really used them. I almost got rid of them. So glad I didn't.
I love my cricuts but there is room for all the different dies as well. We have to have variety, don't we?
Now for my card:
Deer - sizzix Tim Holtz
trees - original sizzix
holly - MS punch
label - spellbinder
and a little bling

Thanks for stopping by. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

Happy mistletoe!

Happy Tuesday, everyone.
I have another Christmas card for you today. This one is Mickey and Minnie. I love this cuttlebug die.  I don't usually use such a strong print background paper but I don't hate this one.
This one has no cricut on it. The sentiment labels are Spellbinders, bows are an original Sizzix die and the holly is a MS punch.
And yes I know the script paper is running up and down. That was done on purpose just because I liked it.
The glitter paper is Recollections Glitzy Glitter from Michaels. It really is the glitziest one I've found. The glitter doesn't come off and it cuts great in the cricut.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you like it. I really love the comments. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

I have a simple card for you today. No cricut-all punches, dies, inking and embossing and it's done.

Gratitude challenge

Another Monday and a new challenge. Our talented Susan has chosen gratitude for the theme of this challenge. Great idea for this time of year, isn't it?
Why not join us? Use any cart just be sure to use your cricut.
I've had 2 surgeries since July-right hand and shoulder. They weren't major but they did cause some problems and lots of pain. Anyway the weekend after the second one my 2 sisters gave up their weekend to spend time with me.  I was a mess. Hadn't slept in weeks due to pain but their visit sure helped. They really made me feel special.
So I'm really grateful for my sisters.
Celebrate with Flourish - pumpkin cut at 3.94
Thanksgiving - leaf and flourish cut at 1.59, Thank You cut at 3.0
Heritage - Sisters cut at 1.24

Thanks for dropping by. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie
I'm also entering this card at Exploring Cricut- Count your Blessings,  FCCB- Be Ye Thankful, and My Craft Spot-Thanksgiving, My Sheri Crafts-Thanks, and Paper Playtime-#89 Anything Goes.

Get well soon

Happy Wednesday, everyone. Just 3 more days till the weekend. I love the weekends but for a totally different reason than most. I have trouble keeping up with what is going on day to day at school. This week there is a food drive and it's a contest. The class that contributes the most wins something. That's fine. But this year they want a specific food item brought every day of the week.So I had to get ready early Monday morning to go buy stuffing mix to donate. Yes I could have gotten it Sunday but I forgot about it and I was busy. It's also "50's" day because it's the 50th day of school. These kids don't have a clue what this is about. And this is just 1st grade. I like that they try to make learning fun but come on.There is something extra going on  almost every week and usually everyday. And not really learning related. I need files in my head like on my computer. Sometimes I feel completely addled. OK, vent over. Back to my card.
My nephew's wife just had back surgery on the 1st and she can already tell that the chronic pain she had is better. She was putting the surgery off until a wedding trip to Ireland but the super storm changed their plans. Which probably worked out for the best because she will feel much better when they do get to travel.
It's a simple card and I only used one cart, Paper Lace2.
Get Well Soon on page 57 cut at .90 and the accent border on page 47
DCWV Lemon Flower stack, punched butterflies and glitter.

Thanks for stopping by. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

Hi everyone. I hope you've been able to get some crafting done this past weekend. I wish there was better news for the east coast. Makes our problems seem trivial. Still sending prayers.
This past weekend I had to write thank you notes. You see we lost my wonderful mother-in-law on Oct. 20 and buried her on Oct 24. So I wasn't crafting for fun but out of necessity. I made 5 or 6 different cards so all would not be exactly alike. I got 12 of them done on Sunday. (a record for me) Of course the insides are plain. Certain family members expect handmade from me but I don't think they need to be overdone.
This is what really surprised me...I did them all with my cuttlebug. Not one cricut cut. The thank yous were stamped and I used 1 MS corner punch.
So here's the simple cards. I hope next time you need lots of cards for a similar event this helps with the styling.

Thanks for stopping by. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

Good morning, all. It's a new Monday and we aren't having a challenge this week. This week we are posting just for inspiration. Hope you like it.
I decided to make a circle card and make it a Christmas theme.

Wild Card - circle card cut at 4.06
Teresa Collins Dec. 25 - frame cut at 3.71, Noel cut at 1.35, dove cut at 2.53
George & Basic Shapes plain circles cut at 3.86
I welded the dove to the inside of the circle frame, then layered 3 dove cuts on top of that.
Added glitter to the top dove, lots of red bling, inking, glimmer mist and a stamped sentiment.

Happy Birthday, Ryan

Hello, everyone. It's Nov. 1st already. This year is going by so fast.
This date is very special to me. My third son was born on Nov. 1st, 1976 after a very tiring night of trick or treating with 2 young sons, 5 & 3.
He's the most special third son ever! Here's his card recipe:
Paper Lace2 (which I just got today, Oct. 31) - gears cut with base cut at 4.65, gear border cut at 1.12, single gears cut at 1.59 & 1.24
labels - spellbinders, CTMH - stamp
Very simple but I love the colors. (and it's not girlie)

Thanks for dropping by. Love the company. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie
