Back to School

Hi everyone. It's hard to believe this is the last Mon. of August. In fact, it's the first day of 1st grade for our grandson. It has gone so quickly. So for our last challenge of the month our very sweet and oh so talented Brenda has chosen "back to school" as our theme. Fitting, huh?
We would be so happy if you joined in the fun. Just remember to follow the rules. You must use cricut cuts.
And be sure to check out the rest of the DT at BBTB2. You'll find lots of inspiration.
OK here's my recipe:
Art Philosophy - labels cut at 3.94 and 4.18
Recess - ABC cut at 1.60, small ABC cut at 1.25, books cut at 1.80, pencil cut at .60
Graphically Speaking - day cut at 4.76
Joys of the Season - 1st cut at 3.25
Cute 3D embellie from Big Lots

This fold is called Double Dutch fold. Tutorial is on Splitcoast Stampers.

Treat boxes

Hi all. It's Friday and it's been a busy week, but not craftwise. I've been finishing up school supplies and getting school clothes.
My sister has invited us to their camp. Which I hope will be relaxing because it is really tiring getting ready.  My everyday pants are in such sad shape and this was the kickstart I needed to buy  some. I hate buying clothes. I'd rather buy cartridges or punches or paper. You know the important stuff. Of course my hubby will be thrilled not to see my "old" stuff anymore. But I didn't say I was getting rid of my "bad" stuff, did I?
Anyway it's been a busy week.  So back to the project.
My sister is bringing her grandson too so he and Gabe will be able to spend the weekend together. I made them a treat box.

I used the Artiste cart from CTMH and cut the popcorn box at 4.40 with the label. I welded their names together and put them on the labels.  Put some of their fav treats in them.

2nd sympathy card

Hi, everyone. It's the middle of the week. We're halfway to Friday already.
Today I have the 2nd sympathy card.
I have a sister who has worked in the same doctor's office for over 30 years. So she gets to know some of the patients pretty well. One such patient moved away a few years ago and they have kept in touch. Two weeks ago this woman's 27 year old grandson  and his two female cousins were carjacked. They killed the young man. Needless to say they are devastated.
My sister asked if I would make a card she can send.
There is actually no cricut on this one.I used a nestie label and embossed it with a fern, stamped a fern inside and die cut a small fern leaf over the sentiment.A little inking and some ribbon and done.

Sympathy card #1

Happy Tuesday all. Hope your week is off to a great start. I had to make 2 sympathy cards this weekend. As if that's not hard enough, they were both for men.
Today's card is for a dear family friend who lost her husband Friday night. He had been fighting several cancers for the last few years. He was always positive and never gave up. We will all miss him.
This is a simple card but I'm happy with it. I think it works well for men.
The only cricut cut is the cattails on the inside. It is from To the Cabin cart cut at 3". Used some embossing, stamping, and a nestie label, inking and ribbon.

The sentiment is one I thought up.If you can't read it, it says, "Heaven must have needed another angel."

Vacation

Happy Monday everyone. Here's hoping we all have a wonderful week. (fingers crossed)
Well, it's that time again. We have a new challenge at BBTB2. This week one of our lovely and very talented leaders, Carole, has chosen vacation/holiday as our theme. This is a great time of year for this one, D\don't you think?
Hope you'll all join in the fun. Just remember to use cricut cuts for the main cuts. Our rules are posted at the top of the BBTB2 blog.
I chose a road trip to the beach.
Recipe:
Summer Vacation - car with surfboard cut at 2.53, beach sign cut at 1,47
Forever Young - sunglasses cut at 1.59
palm tree - my stash
label - nestie
A little inking, embossing and bling. The puffs of smoke (exhaust) behind the car are hand cut and inked.

What a day!

I hope today is better than yesterday. I couldn't concentrate on one specific thing, So I decided to just cut random thing with the new Artiste cart.
I started just cutting with white but that got boring fast. I have a couple of 12x12 books that I bought when I first got my E that I use for sample cuts so I used them.  I will post pics of what I cut. But first...
Do any of you go to the cricut MB's? They are all changed up again. It's so hard to find anything and to me it doesn't make sense. Anyway I was waiting all day for Hello Thursday. No formal announcement. Someone posted the names of the carts and a link.  So I did get to see new carts. Some people are buying new Lite carts at some Walmarts but I can't find them on cricut.com. You'd think PC would put as much info and pics as possible and make them readily available to all of us. I love new carts and I look forward to each release. I'm going to go to the one WM out of the 4 within 30 minutes of me to see if they have any new ones. I won't hold my breath. The last "new" ones were Yee Haw and Beep Beep.

Oh well back to the Artiste cuts. Here's a few pics. It really is a good cart with a lot of variety.

Fontopia card

Good morning!
Hi, all. I have a shape card made with the new Fontopia.
I don't usually have much luck cutting the shaped cards on our carts. But...A very smart friend gave me a great tip. I'm sure most of you know Bobby of Cricut Couple. When he gives me a suggestion I try it. He asked if I was cutting with my gypsy. (of course I was) He said to try cutting with the E without using the gypsy. Guess what? The cuts match up so much better.
So thanks a bunch, Bobby.
This card was cut at 5" with all layers. I used the stamp set from Artiste and the shape for the sentiment. I embellished with some punched flowers, butterflies and dragonflies. A little inking, glitter and glimmer mist and that's about it.

Elephantly speaking

Well, happy Monday everyone. Are you up for a new challenge? It's that time again.
This Monday our very sweet and talented Shelly has chosen, Elephantly Speaking.
This one was fun. There are lots of cute elephants on cricut cartridges to choose from. I chose Birthday Bash for mine.
Here's the recipe:
Birthday Bash - elephant cut at 4.29, phrase, 3 cheers, cut at 1.71
Sweet Treats - hip hip hooray cut at 3.0
sentiment printed on my computer and layered on a nesties  label, a few punched flowers and some bling and you're done

I hope you'll join in the fun. Just remember the elephant must be a cricut cut.
Thanks for visiting. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

Feeling better?

Well the weekend is ending and for me it's a good thing. I want to get back to creating instead of just "cutting." (see earlier post)
As some of you know I joined the Circle and chose Fontopia as my free cart. Did not pay close attention  and was very disappointed. (see earlier post) So I decided to try out the card feature. There is a lot to choose from and that's the redeeming quality of this cart. IMHO The shape card did not match up perfectly when closed but it was workable. In fact I have never cut a shape card from any cart that matched up right.
I think I'll like the card feature. Lots of variety and layers. They aren't all feminine. That's a plus.
Anyway I decided to finish the one I cut. I added nesties, punches, glitter and an Epiphany shape I made when I first got the tool.
I decided to send this one to my MIL. She hasn't been well for a while and they are really just treating her symptoms.  The last few days have been better for her. Maybe a card will help.

Thanks for stopping by.

A little advice...

Hope everyone is having a great Friday.  I joined the Circle with reward points and chose Fontopia as my cart.  I wanted this cart especially for the great fonts. I should have paid closer attention. The style used for my initials are my least favorite. In fact I don't like them at all.  I thought all the letters could be cut in all the styles. Not true.
I do like the card feature, but there are a ton of very intricate cuts on the layers. There are a good variety of other cuts so it's not a total loss.
So just be aware if the main reason you buy this cart is the font styles, check your own initials to see if you like them.
I cut the "S" this morning. I still don't like it. So I'm glad I used points and not $. (I did get Cricut Everyday and I love this one.)
Thanks for letting me vent. Hugs and God bless. Stephanie

Surprise new arrival!

Good morning all. I have a special post today. A while back I told you we were looking at buying a new vehicle. (May) I have always driven a car and we wanted an SUV. We decided on a Ford Explorer but there weren't any exactly like we wanted within 400 miles. So it would have to be ordered. (I hated that)
Since we couldn't buy one now we decided to wait until after my hubby retired in September. We had a bunch of other things that needed our attention anyway. You know, Life - surgeries, 4rh BBQ, out of town company and all the paper work to do with SS and finances of his retirement accounts.
Anyway, last Thursday, Aug. 2nd, the salesman left us a message to give him a call. I called hubby at work and made him call him back.
So, long story, short - the dealer ordered our SUV the way we wanted it and it was in. If we wanted it, it was ours. If not, he wouldn't have any trouble selling it. But would we like to come and see it.
Needless to say, I fell in love with it. What a great surprise this was.
So . . .  please  meet "Sugar."

Thanks a bunch

Good morning and happy Tuesday. Hope all is well with you. My week is having a busy start. Working on paper work for school. and I need to make a few cards in the next couple of days.
But this thank you card I made last week. I remembered a card that was a bunch of bananas and it was perfect for what I needed.
I first saw this created on my blog friend, Jayne's blog, Jayne's Designs. It was so cute. I was hoping to have a reason to use it.
Well my BFF and neighbor brought us some banana pudding, Paula Deen's recipe, and it was so delicious. Perfect reason for this card.
Recipe:
Wild Card 2 - bananas cut at 4.50 with all layers
It came together quickly. A little shading  and highlighting with chalk pencils and that's it. The tag is a sizzlets die.
Thanks for looking.

Hot Air Balloon

Hi, everyone. Guess what time it is...Challenge time! That's right it's time for another fabulous Monday challenge at BBTB2.
This week our very talented Jeri picked hot air balloons, up, up and away. I love hot air balloons. I would love to ride in one. In reality that isn't gonna happen. I happen to be terrified of heights. I guess only in my dreams.
OK, back to the reason for this post. You can use any cartridge but the balloon must be a cricut cut. If you don't have a cart with a balloon you can use a plane.
I used Everyday Pop ups cards for mine. I made the whole card with scraps. Yea!
Everyday Pop ups - hot air balloons - cut at 4.88 and 1.94
Crocs Rule - clouds cut at 3.24 and 2.53
Sentiment - my own printed on the computer, MS corner punch and some inking

Thanks so much for stopping by. Be sure to visit my BBTB2 DT sisters' blogs for lots of great inspiration.
Hugs and God bless. Stephanie
